FLASHPOINT on CTV

The fourth nomination is the charm for composers Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner, as the team was awarded a 2013 Canadian Screen Award for Best Music Score for the Flashpoint episode "Day Game". The pair have been nominated for three previous Gemini Awards for earlier seasons but this is their first win. With multiple nods, Flashpoint is also nominated in several acting categories, writing, direction, picture editing as well as best drama. Formerly known as the Geminis, this year's newly named Canadian Screen Awards has nominated the composing duo once again. The gala event also included a special recognition award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television for Flashpoint's groundbreaking contribution to the industry. Since its premier in summer 2008, the show quickly became one of the most popular shows on television. Composers Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner are honoured to be nominated for their music every year.

Amin is thrilled to have teamed up again with Ari Posner on the underscore (the two also wrote the theme) on the rapidly developing show. Together both composers worked at a lightning pace that matched the intensity of the weekly drama. This production represents another in a series of shows co-composed by the team of Amin Bhatia and Ari Posner. Other shows include "Get Ed" for which the two writers received an Emmy nomination. "Flashpoint" was a rewarding and challenging production, with a brisk production pace that kept Amin focused on the new series and putting new album releases somewhat on the back burner. "Flashpoint," whose working title was originally "Sniper," is a police drama about an elite group of highly-skilled enforcement police officers that rescue hostages, bust gangs, and defuse bombs. They are known as the Strategic Response Unit (SRU). The team is inspired by real-life emergency task forces trained to get inside a suspect's head and find their emotional breaking point, or the "flashpoint". "Flashpoint" is written and created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, and produced by Pink Sky/Avamar Entertainment. The show can be seen on CBS, CTV, Ion and Bravo Networks in North America and is also on many networks worldwide.
